STEM News Tip: A Busy Month on the Moon

We’ve had some big events this past month on our usually-quiet moon. India’s Chandrayaan-3 probe made a successful soft landing at the lunar south pole, the first ever to achieve such a landing in this region. The probe and the rover it carries will be carrying out scientific surveys of the area.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Luna-25 probe attempted a similar landing this month but crashed due to a malfunction during an orbital burn.

A followup mission, Luna-26, is planned for 2027.
