The Space Launch System is currently under development as NASA’s new heavy-lifting rocket, intended for many purposes including the upcoming Artemis lunar mission. Final testing of the system has been delayed due to the pandemic, but has now resumed with the expectation that the SLS will be ready for 2021 operations. The Artemis mission is intended for launch in late 2021.
