STEM News Tip: Donna Hammer wins Board of Regents Award

 Donna Hammer, UMD Physics Director of Education, is one of the winners of this year’s University System of Maryland Board of Regents Staff Award.

 Awarded annually to university staff members across the state for extraordinary service in higher education, the Board of Regents Award recognizes achievement in services to students, the niversities, and the community. Recipients will be officially recognized at the Board of Regents meeting in September.

 Donna Hammer was particularly recognized this year for her role in the department’s pivot to online learning and for her contributions to diversity and inclusion. In addition to her work leading the Office of Student & Education Services, she is also a departmental ombudsperson and serves on the UMD Senate’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee.
