STEM News Tip: Keep An Eye Out For Meteors This Month!

We have two meteor showers to watch for this season. Keep an eye on the sky for some spectacular natural fireworks!

The Delta Aquariid meteors have an extended shower that lasts from mid-July to mid-August this year. They’re not as bright as some, but at certain times you may see up to 20 meteors an hour in a dark sky. Watch for them particularly on moonless nights.

The Perseid meteors will give a brief, bright show, peaking around August 11-13. They’re easiest to see in the early mornings. The Perseids originate from the passage of Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle, which passed near us last in 1992 and will return in 2126. Meanwhile, it’s left us this bright sparks in the night; so if you can, take a chance to go out and enjoy!
