STEM News Tip: Geminids Meteors

The Geminid meteor shower stops by for its annual visit this coming week – or, depending on on your perspective, we’re dropping by there! The yearly meteor shower is caused by Earth passing through the debris trail of the asteroidal object 3200 Phaethon – an unusual asteroid with cometlike behaviour.

The best times to see the shower in our area will be December 13th & 14th, in the hours just after midnight, but you may spot meteors any time in the next couple of weeks.
