Blackbody Radiation

  • Andrew Duffy’s Blackbody Radiation simulation allows you to show the observed color and a graph of the blackbody spectrum associated with a given temperature.

  • PhET offers a similar but more complex Blackbody Spectrum simulation, with expandable spectrum graph; it can measure intensity (in Watts per meter) as well.

  • This commercial blackbody emission calculator from SpectraPlot is vendor-based, so be aware that it is going to try to sell you sources and filters for a given spectrum! But it allowes more precise adjustments of parameters and can export a zipped data file of the results (extracts to .csv) for further analysis in class or as a student project.
