Purpose: Example of a gyroscopic effect.
Description: Spin the football with its long axis in a horizontal plane. It will then rise until it is rotating about about the long axis with one end in contact with the floor. This experiment can also be done with eggs: a hard boiled egg will rise to rotate on its end, while a raw egg will quickly cease rotating.
