Description: Before the invention of the cesium clock and the digital watch, the only way to tell time was the hourglass. The picture above shows on elementary version of the hourglass; many were more sophisticated and thereby able to time such diverse events as boiling an egg or measuring a one hour interval. The real beauty of this one is its pastel colors.
